Wingham choir reaches out through song

The Eisteddfod winning choir from St Joseph’s Primary School, Wingham decided to spread some Christmas joy during the festive season.

The 24 students from Year 1 to Year 6 jumped on bus in their Christmas gear and visited the local preschools and retirement village to sing some Christmas songs.

“Part of our Catholic mission is to reach out to others,” said Emma Timmins, Principal of St Joseph’s.

“This was one way the choir felt they could do that and the joy on the faces of the pre-schoolers and elderly were well worth it!”

The choir was led by Choir Director and P&F President, Elise Prosser.

Throughout the year Elise has helped develop the talent of the students and encouraged the choir to enter into their first Taree Eisteddfod in the Small Schools category.

Good thing the choir entered because it won first place!

“This gave our choir members lots of confidence in their ability, helping them to sing in future public performances such as the local Remembrance Day ceremony and the St Joseph’s Christmas Fete,” said Emma.
