The day was attended by students from St Joseph’s High School, Aberdeen; St Pius X High School, Adamstown; St Paul’s Catholic College, Booragul; St Bede’s Catholic College, Chisolm; St Mary’s Catholic College, Gateshead; St Joseph’s College, Lochinvar; San Clemente High School, Mayfield; St Catherine’s Catholic College, Singleton; St Francis Xavier’s College, Hamilton; All Saints’ College, Maitland and St Clare’s High School, Taree.

Students were required to deliver both impromptu and prepared speeches, with students given five minutes to prepare their impromptu speeches.

Prepared

• Year 8 - If I had three wishes, they would be…
• Year 9 - The importance of teamwork
• Year 10 - Make a difference – celebrate diversity!
• Senior - In society today, has privacy become a luxury?

Impromptu

• Years 7/8 - I dream a future                                            
• Years 9/10 - What happiness means to me
• Senior - The most important lesson in my life so far          

The winners of the Secondary Public Speaking Competition from each year group were:

• Year 7 – Denzel Palmer (St Paul’s Booragul) and Alana Wickham (All Saints’ College, Maitland)
• Year 8 – Ryan Hodges (All Saints’ College, Maitland) and Sofia Moran (St Pius X Adamstown)
• Year 9 – Yolanta Guthridge (St Clare’s, Taree) and Patrick Howlett (St Mary’s Gateshead)
• Year 10 – Angus O’Connor (St Mary’s Gateshead) and Meg Southcombe (St Joseph’s Aberdeen)
• Senior – Luka Mockovic and Jess Pelley (St Francis Xavier’s College, Hamilton)

The champion school for the day was All Saints’ College, Maitland.
