The morning began with students in Years 7 to 11 celebrating a glorious open-air Mass on the Marcellin lawn. Father Paul O’Neill, parish priest from St Joseph’s East Maitland led the congregation in the celebration.

Students could recognise that All Saints’ Day is much more than our school feast day and contributed in a real and positive way to the celebration of Mass.

The day continued with each tutor group hosting a stall in our mini fete.

Stalls were conducted at recess and lunch and included a variety of food and activities. No one could go hungry when faced with donuts, burgers, cakes, lollies, sausage sandwiches, ice cream, ice blocks, hot dogs and pizza, just to name a few of the delicious stalls.

Entertainment and competition stalls included teacher baby photos, a dunking machine, hair studio, face painting, gumboot challenge, dunny dunk, petting zoo, nerf gallery and water pong.

All money raised in the stalls was donated to a cause close to our hearts — a fund to support one of our students currently battling cancer. As a community we raised more than $6000 to help one of our own.

During the talent show in the middle of the day, we welcomed some very special guest judges. Boy George, Amy Winehouse, Ed Sheeran and Sia displayed considerable talent, delighting the audience almost as much as the students who performed.

After an engaging and entertaining day, students finished with Kahoot-style games in their tutor groups.
