Diocesan Cross Country 2019

The primary Diocesan Cross Country was held at the picturesque Walka Waterworks, a location that offers a true cross-country course with plenty of challenges for competitors.

Over 900 students raced for a place in the top eight for their age division.

It was a great carnival atmosphere, with schools cheering each other on and encouraging runners to finish the race.

Paul Humphreys from H-Events provided live results as students crossed the finish line.

Sue and Brian Morgan from SIM’s Cambodia ran a fundraising barbeque throughout the day to raise funds for the local Rotary Club. The day saw them raise over $1,300, which Sue said would be a fantastic boost to their fundraising efforts. They are hoping to build a toilet block and well in the village of Kla Kamum in Cambodia, as they currently have no sewerage system in place.

These students will head to Sydney Motor Park in June to compete at the NSW Catholic Primary Schools Championships.

The secondary Cross Country was once again hosted by St Joseph’s High School, Aberdeen at the scenic Lake Glenbawn.

There were some course changes this year to make the course even more challenging for competitors.

The top six in each age division will represent the Diocese at Sydney Motor Park in June.
