Character capers turn the page

St Joseph's Primary School, Gloucester, had a wonderful time celebrating Book Week on Wednesday 19 August.

The theme this year was Curious Creatures, Wild Minds, and students took the opportunity to recreate book characters, including from The Baby-Sitters Club to Wally from Where's Wally?, Willy Wonka, Indianna Jones, Toothless, Cinderella, Hermoine, Peter Pan, Mr Shark, Agent Fox and many more

There was also a special appearance from some staff as the coloured crayons from Drew Daywalt’s book Love from the Crayons.

To celebrate the day, classes put on parades, books were read, and books were made available for families to purchase. At St Joseph’s each year our book week festivities also involve celebrating Australia's children's authors and illustrators.

As a focus of the celebration, our librarian Mrs Webeck read the Caroline Magerl story Nop. The school library was also decorated with colourful displays from scenes from Nop.

All staff and students made the effort to dress up and get involved in this year’s themeEveryone enjoyed our celebration of the importance of reading.
