St Joey’s shows appreciation home and away

Support staff play a vital role in the education of students and St Joseph’s Primary School, Bulahdelah recently recognised their efforts.

On Friday 22 May, St Joseph’s celebrated World Support Staff Day and paid tribute to its team – Megan, Alicia, Maria and Nickie – with a High Tea. It was a small token, but the appreciation of their support and commitment is huge

The students meanwhile have taken a seasonal approach. The attached photos show them enjoying the autumn leaves and expressing their happiness of being back at school.

Home learning was certainly an experience. We sought feedback from the students on something they enjoyed about their time learning from home and one thing they found hard or frustrating. Here is a selection of feedback

K/1/2 as a class enjoyed playing with a new or old iPad, eating their favourite food and using Lego. Counting with animals was also fun. They missed playing games with their friends at lunchtime. Some found the subtraction work tricky without their teacher Mrs Redman. Many missed Mrs Redman teaching them new things.

Ayla Matherson enjoyed spending time with her family, the horses and the dog. She learnt how to do a backflip and had fun playing on the trampoline. Ayla did not like it when she couldn’t visit friends.  Meanwhile, Elizabeth Limo enjoyed watching movies with her family and Lego Masters, which she described as very exciting. Elizabeth also found it challenging that she couldn’t see her friends.

In the Year 5/6 classroom playing games and spending time with siblings was popular as was using Microsoft Teams to converse with friends. Finding their work on MS Teams could be frustrating at times for some.

On Tuesday 26 May, St Joseph’s conducted a National Sorry Day Liturgy as part of National Reconciliation Week activities.
