Trek, Ride and Stride for Mission

Life can offer some amazing opportunities for those willing to step out of their comfort zone into new possibilities. Dungog grandmother and librarian, Lyn Barham stepped out to join six other intrepid adventurers as they strapped on their walking boots in January 2019 to trek through the stunning mountainous countryside of Myanmar.

“It was a wonderful experience visiting Myanmar, meeting the local people and taking part in the trek.” Lyn said, “the whole experience was challenging physically, spiritually and mentally.”

The team’s hard work was shown not only in their three days of hiking , but also in the lead up to the trip where they collectively raised over $26,000 towards the vital work of Catholic Mission in Myanmar. The reward of the trip was visiting the projects they had fundraised for, meeting the community members and beneficiaries, and learning how they have been impacted by the work supported by Catholic Mission.

“I would encourage everyone if they get the chance to take part in similar fundraising experiences. You never know what you can achieve until you try!” says Lyn.
