Thank you for keeping our community safe
As part of our community involvement, the Learning Lions were proud to show their support for our local SES volunteers on their national WOW Day on 10 May.
Learning the hundred languages
On Wednesday 3 May, Teachers and Educators from St Nicholas Newcastle West and Singleton had our annual professional development day. We all made our way to the lovely Crowne Plaza in the Hunter Valley for our training in Reggio Emilia.
Reflecting on the image of the child
For the educators of St Nicholas Early Education, a day to come together at the Crowne Plaza in the Hunter Valley as an entire agency to think, share, question and explore new ideas was too good an opportunity to pass up. The guest speaker at the first ever full day of professional learning was Kirsty Liljegren, consultant and lecturer of Reggio Emilia and the Teaching Director of Cornish College Early Learning Centre in Victoria.
Three new St Nicholas centres to open
The diocese’s childcare agency, St Nicholas Early Education, is set to expand with three new centres to open late 2017 and early 2018. With services already operating at Singleton and Newcastle West, St Nick’s will soon have five centres across the region - opening at Cardiff, Chisholm and also Lochinvar in late 2017 and early 2018 ready for the school year.
Dinosaur Roar!
Following the children’s interest in the Henny Penny Hatchlings, the Yunung room continued to investigate animals that hatch from eggs.
Our water snail!
We are very excited to have a new member of the Creative Cubs Room – our very own water snail!
Tasting cultural traditions
The Creative Cubs have been exploring various cultures – drawing on similarities to, and differences from, our own through meaningful conversations and detailed observations.
