Local Athletes Excel at Polding Basketball and Tennis Trials

A big congratulations to the boys and girls who represented our Maitland-Newcastle Diocese last week in the Polding Basketball trials in Coffs Harbour and the Polding Tennis trials. They all represented our area with great sportsmanship and skill throughout the day!

Basketball

A massive shoutout and congratulations to the following students who made it to Polding Teams:

  • Darcy Bendeich - St Aloysius Catholic Primary School, Chisholm (Boys Team)
  • Lennox Lindsell - St Aloysius Catholic Primary School, Chisholm (Boys Team)
  • Nevaya Liva - St Patrick's Primary School, Lochinvar (Girls Team)

Congratulations also goes to the following students who made it to the final selection part of the day, only narrowly missing out on Polding  selection:

  • Manning Lees - Holy Family Primary School, Merewether Beach
  • Emerson Dare - St James Primary School, Kotara South

NSWPSSA is being hosted in Newcastle so these players get to shine in their hometown in May.

Tennis

At the tennis three of our students played six tough rounds:

  • Lawson Donald - St Catherine's Catholic College, Singleton
  • Patrick Holz - St Aloysius Catholic Primary School, Chisholm
  • Tayla Hope - St Patrick's Primary School, Swansea

Tayla won his pool and progressed through the day to be named in the Polding team.

The following students also made it through the round games:

  • Minnie Cooper-Stone - St Paul's Primary School Gateshead
  • Matisse McLeod - St Catherine's Catholic College, Singleton
  • Genevieve Threlfo - St John the Baptist Primary School, Maitland

Genevieve and Matisse played some outstanding shots and each secured  a place in the Polding team. They too will play in Newcastle at the NSWPSSA event.
