St Mary’s reminisces on 130 years of education

St Mary’s Primary School, Scone, celebrated its 130th anniversary recently, inviting special guests, past principals, teachers, students and family to gather for the occasion.

The morning saw the St Mary’s community come together for a special liturgy where they walked down memory lane, sharing their part and place in the story of St Mary’s.

In preparation for the day, students had interviewed past students and teachers which were played during the gathering.

After a delicious lunch, the students enjoyed mission activities to acknowledge Mission Day, such as pin the tail on the donkey, lucky dips and obstacle courses while special guests took a step back in time, reminiscing with a photo display and school tour.

“It was a wonderful day to celebrate as a school community and acknowledge the importance and relevance of Catholic education in Scone,” said principal, Jim FitzGerald.
