Showcase of song at St Pius

On Monday 11 December, St Pius X High School, Adamstown, hosted choirs from some of the feeder schools in a fantastic initiative that encouraged a joy of singing and performance.

Choirs from St Therese’s, New Lambton, Holy Family, Merewether Beach, St Joseph’s, Merewether and St Patricks, Wallsend enjoyed three workshops in the morning session.

The choirs worked with voice specialists, Asha Lunarzewski, Michael Nolan and Anthea Harrington, looking at developing skills in singing and choral work in a fun environment.

During the afternoon, each choir performed prepared songs for each other, an invited audience and the Year 7 students of St Pius. They also performed the songs they had worked on in their morning workshops as one big super choir - the sound was fantastic!

A huge congratulations to the organisers St Pius music teachers, Asha Lunarzewski and Anna Burns on creating such an engaging event as well as to the leaders of each primary choir whose passion for music and learning shone through.

Finally, congratulations to all the primary students, and musical students of St Pius who sang their hearts out. Thanks for your fantastic renditions of popular, Christmas and musical theatre pieces. There aren’t many better way to spend an afternoon!
