Musical impresario impresses at St Paul’s

St Paul's Primary School, Gateshead, hosted a special visitor at its annual Christmas concert on Friday 29 November — Australian children’s music composer, Andrew Chinn.

Throughout the school day, Mr Chinn conducted workshops with each class, helping students prepare for their performance for the evening show. He also ran the entire production, which was a fantastic success.

The concert began with a whole-school song and concluded with each class performing individual songs.

Mr Chinn records Christian music for children (and some for adults too) for use in Religious Education and liturgy. He has an extensive background in Catholic education having taught in primary schools in Sydney for 20 years. He has also visited more than 1000 Catholic schools around Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada and the Cook Islands.

Students were in awe of Mr Chinn’s talent. They thought his stories and jokes were hilarious and loved singing along to the songs. One student said Mr Chinn was very creative and made the concert more interesting.

It was a great way to spend some time as a community.
