TUESDAYS WITH TERESA: World Meeting of Families
This week I am bringing to your attention #WMOF22. I believe that this significant event from June 22 to 26, 100 days from now, may not have registered with you because of our lack of connection over the past two years.
TUESDAYS WITH TERESA: Break the bias
I am conscious that this message will be read by most people on Tuesday 8 March, International Women’s Day. The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is #BreakTheBias.
TUESDAYS WITH TERESA: Season of Lent
I hope many of you experienced an increase in the numbers of people attending Mass over the weekend, and the extra joy of hearing the voices of those assembled responding to the prayers and singing without the restriction of masks. This was my experience at the Cathedral on Sunday evening.
TUESDAYS WITH TERESA: Love your enemies
Over the past couple of weeks, I have managed to catch some of the highlights of the Winter Olympics. I have marvelled at the ability of humans to train and achieve such excellence in what seems to me dangerous pursuits. Almost all things on ice and snow seem to be accompanied by high speed and incredible grace.
TUESDAYS WITH TERESA: Happy are they who hope in the Lord
I love the way our Sunday scripture readings are relevant and provide us with guidance for our lives each week. For those who are able to attend Mass or who read the scriptures daily, they too find what they read applicable to their lives. And so, for this particular Sunday, people are being asked to trust in God both now and for eternity. The response to our Responsorial Psalm was, “Happy are they who hope in the Lord.”
TUESDAYS WITH TERESA: Word of God Sunday
I am aware that the first Sunday in February (Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time) has been designated by the Australian bishops as Word of God Sunday, typically held on the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time in other parts of the world.
TUESDAYS WITH TERESA: New beginnings
This first day of February marks the beginning of my work year in the Diocese. We are still living in uncertain times, and I am conscious that many are feeling the anxiety, stress and strain of the past two years.
Brendon Mannyx: Breaking walls this Christmas
In November, our Diocese began sharing stories of Mission and Outreach under the name, Church without Walls.
